St. Mary Parish Deputies Search Centerville Waters for Jerami Segura and April Comeaux After Disabled Shrimp Boat Leaves Pair Missing on Jet Ski

Search crews on a Louisiana waterway during an ongoing missing-person search

CENTERVILLE, LA — Deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office are looking for two people who disappeared after a trip involving a jet ski and a disabled shrimp boat. Jerami Segura and April Comeaux were last seen on Oct. 1, and investigators have been trying to trace where they went after that point.

The search has centered on waters around Centerville and nearby access points. Deputies say Segura’s vehicle was found at the Cabot Boat Ramp, but Segura, Comeaux and the jet ski he was reportedly using are still missing.

How investigators say the trip began

According to investigators, Segura’s shrimp boat became disabled at an unknown location. Deputies say he was then reportedly using a dark-colored jet ski to try to reach the vessel so it could be towed.

That sequence has been important to the investigation because it gives deputies a starting point for the search. Even so, authorities have not said exactly where the boat stalled or where Segura and Comeaux may have gone after that.

The sheriff’s office has not released additional details about what led to the apparent emergency on the water. For now, the public timeline begins with the Oct. 1 sighting and the discovery of Segura’s vehicle at the boat ramp.

Search teams from three agencies joined the effort

A coordinated search began on Saturday with help from the sheriff’s office Marine Patrol, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The agencies have been working together as the search continues in the parish’s waterways.

Authorities have not publicly described every area that has been searched, but the involvement of multiple marine and wildlife units suggests the effort has covered a broad stretch of water and shoreline. The sheriff’s office said the search remains ongoing.

The skiff has been found, but the people have not

Deputies said the skiff connected to the case has been located. Even so, Segura, Comeaux and the jet ski have not been recovered, leaving investigators without a full answer to what happened after the pair were last seen.

The fact that the skiff was found has provided one confirmed piece of the timeline, but it has not resolved the wider disappearance. At this point, officials are still treating the case as an active search rather than a concluded incident.

Officials ask anyone with information to call

The sheriff’s office is urging anyone who may know where the pair are to contact investigators. The department listed its number as 337-828-1960.

In missing-person searches, even small pieces of information can help narrow where crews should look next. Deputies have not said whether they believe foul play was involved, and the public plea is focused on finding Segura and Comeaux as quickly as possible.

What is known so far about the case

At this point, officials have confirmed the names of the missing pair, the date they were last seen and the fact that a disabled shrimp boat was part of the sequence of events. They also have confirmed that several agencies are assisting with the search.

What remains unknown is their exact location and what happened after the attempt to reach the disabled vessel. Until investigators find more evidence or the missing jet ski is recovered, the search is expected to continue across the area.
