GREENBELT, MD — Police and family members are searching for 16-year-old Dahlyla Gordon, who has been missing for six days after she was last seen in a Greenbelt neighborhood on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 3.
Her family says she disappeared along with another 16-year-old girl, and both teens told relatives they were walking to a nearby gas station before planning to take a ride with someone their parents did not know.
That friend was found Thursday, according to her family, but Gordon has not been located. Authorities are now asking the public to help find her.
Family says the girls planned to meet someone their parents did not know
According to Gordon’s family and the other teen’s family, the girls said they were headed to a gas station before meeting up for a car ride with an unfamiliar person. The families have not said who that person was or whether the teens had any contact with them after leaving.
Gordon was last seen in Greenbelt on Oct. 3, and her family says there has been no confirmed sighting since then. The missing teen’s relatives have turned to social media to share her name and picture while the search continues.
Police have not released additional details about how the teens vanished, but they are urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
Friend was located after search shifted to Southeast Washington
The other missing 16-year-old was found Thursday, her family said. Before she was located, her parents handed out flyers and photos in a Southeast Washington neighborhood where her phone location had been recorded around 2 a.m. Sunday.
That information helped focus the family’s search in the District, though it is not clear how she ended up there or who may have been with her. Her recovery has not led to any public explanation about Gordon’s whereabouts.
For Gordon’s family, the friend’s return has brought little relief, since Dahlyla remains missing and there has been no confirmation of where she went after leaving Greenbelt.
Phone activity offers limited clues as the search stretches on
Gordon’s family says her phone activity was last recorded two days ago while she was on social media. That detail has become one of the few time markers available to relatives trying to piece together her movements.
Even with that digital trace, the family has not said where the phone was used or whether investigators believe it points to a possible location. Police have also not publicly identified any suspect or person of interest.
The lack of clear leads has left the search dependent on public tips, family outreach, and any information that might connect the last known sightings of the two teenagers.
Family posts plea for Dahlyla Gordon to come home safely
Gordon’s relatives have used social media to appeal directly to her. In a message shared by the family, they wrote, “Dahlyla, you are deeply loved, and we worry about your safety.”
They also asked anyone with information to contact police if they have seen her or know anything that might help bring her home. The family’s public posts have emphasized concern for her well-being rather than providing new details about the search.
Those messages reflect the urgency surrounding the case as each day passes without confirmation of where the teen is or whether she is safe.
Police asking anyone with information to call Greenbelt or Prince George's County detectives
Authorities say anyone who knows Gordon’s whereabouts should contact the Greenbelt Police Department or the Prince George’s County Police Department. Police have not announced any arrests or said whether they believe foul play is involved.
The case remains active as officers and family members continue trying to locate the missing teen. At this point, the publicly shared facts are limited to the timeline of her disappearance, the later recovery of her friend, and the family’s appeal for help.
Greenbelt police and county detectives remain the main points of contact for tips that could help narrow the search.
