DETROIT, MI — Showers are expected to move out overnight, bringing a gradual clearing trend and lows in the low to mid 60s across Metro Detroit. In the city, overnight temperatures are forecast near 63 degrees, while areas outside Detroit dip into the mid to upper 50s.
The region is still under a storm chance through 10 p.m., but the main evening weather concern eases as rain fades. Winds stay light overnight from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph, helping keep conditions relatively calm once the rain ends.
Thursday Brings A Small Shower Risk
Thursday is shaping up partly sunny with only a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. The best chance for any isolated activity is north of Detroit, where a brief pop-up storm could develop during the afternoon.
High temperatures should climb into the low 80s, which is close to seasonal levels for late August. Winds turn northwest around 10 mph, and most communities should stay dry even if a stray shower forms in the northern part of the area.
Dry Weather Holds Through The Weekend
Friday and Saturday look mostly quiet, sunny, and pleasant with highs near 80 degrees. That stretch should offer the most comfortable weather in the forecast, with no widespread rain expected and only light winds from the north and northeast.
Temperatures begin climbing again late in the weekend. Forecasters say the warm-up will continue into early next week, when highs could approach 90 degrees, ending the brief run of milder, more seasonable weather across southeast Michigan.
Current Conditions Show Muggy Air In Place
At the time of the forecast, humidity was at 92% and the dew point stood at 65 degrees, signs of a sticky air mass over the Detroit area. Pressure was 29.85 inches, and the wind was out of the southwest at 5 mph.
Visibility was 10 miles, with sunrise listed at 6:52 a.m. and sunset at 8:15 p.m. Those readings point to a humid late-summer setup, even as the immediate rain threat fades and the region heads into a drier stretch for the end of the week.
